Commissioners

The Authority plays a critical role in regulating the operation of the licensed casino resort and its satellite facilities in the Republic. The Board of the Commission is composed of seven (7) members, who are appointed by the Council of Ministers due to their specialized expertise in areas such as public contracts, auditing, information technology, and legislative compliance.

The main mission of the Commission’s Board is to ensure the effective exercise of its powers and to carry out the overall strategic planning. Through coordinated actions, the Board guarantees the implementation of the regulatory framework governing the operation of the licensed casino resort and its satellite facilities, including the protection of the public and vulnerable groups from the negative consequences of problematic casino gambling.

Dr. Pieris Chouridis is the Dean of the School of Business Administration at the European University Cyprus. He holds a BEng(Hons) in Electrical Engineering, a MSc in Strategic Management and a PhD in Knowledge Management from the University of Derby, UK. Is a multinational-awarded researcher, activities and interest involve and focus of developing best practice in Knowledge Management (KM). His research involves the development of sophistication scale, people portfolio matrix, knowledge adaptability matrix, knowledge management intelligent system, knowledge transfer model, and performance measurement. His research also investigates into the fields of Strategic Management, Project Management, Velocity Theory and Real Quality.

He worked with organizations in the automotive industry on Strategy and Quality Management issues and in the aerospace industry on Knowledge Management issues. He was also head of the Research and Strategic Planning Department, of the Cyprus Federation of Employers and Industrialists (OEB).

Dr. Chourides also leads the cooperation of the European University of Cyprus with the Center for Alternative Finance of the Judge Business School of the University of Cambridge (Cambridge Center for Alternative Finance – CCAF) in the European Mediterranean (Euro-MED) and the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.

He is an Award Assessor of the EFQM excellence model (European Foundation of Quality Management) and Advisor on IIP (Investor In People) model. He is also acting as a blind referee, for Journal of Business Excellence, and Electronic journal of Knowledge Management.

With a career spanning over 25 years, Marios Pieri has established himself as a highly accomplished IT executive with a focus on healthcare information technology. As the IT Head at BOCOC Oncology Center, he has been instrumental in spearheading strategic planning, development, and implementation of innovative IT solutions that align with business objectives while ensuring the confidentiality and integrity of data. Marios has a strong track record of achieving cost reductions, enhancing system performance, and maintaining regulatory compliance within the healthcare sector.

Marios’s technical expertise is complemented by a comprehensive array of professional certifications, including Certified ISO/IEC 27001 Lead Implementer and Certified Data Protection Officer. These credentials, along with his educational background in Biomedical Engineering from Marquette University and an MSc in Advanced Information Technology from the University of Cyprus, underscore his deep understanding of IT and cybersecurity best practices.

Known for his leadership and management skills, Marios excels in fostering strong employee relations and applying strategic thinking to drive IT initiatives forward. His strengths in critical thinking, risk assessment, and team-oriented approach make him a valuable leader in the IT field. He is dedicated to leveraging his extensive experience and technical acumen to contribute to the success of any organization he joins.

Andreas Christou is the founder and managing director of the law firm A. Christou & Associates LLC since March 2019. Andreas Christou graduated from the Law School of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, where he continued with the acquisition of a postgraduate degree, completing the program “Criminal Law of Dependencies”. He is currently a PhD candidate in Criminal Law at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, while also serving as a visiting lecturer in the Criminal Law Sector of the Cyprus Law Department at the University of Nicosia. His interests are found in, among others, sexual offenses, controlled substances and delinquency of minors and dependent offenders.

Magia Kleopa graduated from the University of Manchester in 2011, earning a Bachelor of Laws (LLB (Hons)). She then obtained the Barrister at Law qualification in 2012 at Gray’s Inn in London. In 2013, she earned a postgraduate degree from University College London (UCL) with a specialization in corporate law.

She completed her legal practice in Cyprus in 2014 and has since been working at the law firm Kleopa & Kleopa D.E.P.E., where she now serves as Chief Executive Officer. In 2017, she was awarded the title of Mediator by the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and in 2023 she received certification in “AML for ICPAC and CBA Members” from the International Compliance Association.

Additionally, she has been a Cyprus Gambling and Casino Supervision Authority member since July 2025.

Mr. Kosmas Kosmas is an accomplished professional in the field of accounting, auditing, and financial services. With many years of experience and extensive education, he holds significant positions in leading companies and organizations, offering high-level expertise and specialization in his industry.

Mr. Kosmas holds a BSc (Hons) in Economics and a BA (Hons) in Accounting & Finance. He is a certified Chartered Accountant through ACCA and a member of the Association of Certified Accountants (FCCA). Additionally, he is a licensed legal accountant and auditor from the Association of Certified Accountants of Cyprus (SELK) and an authorized approved person by the Malta Gaming Authority (MGA) for system audits.

He serves as a Director on the board of K.Treppides & Co Ltd, an auditing firm, and as a Director at Finanz-Audit Ltd, an associated auditing firm of K.Treppides & Co Ltd. Moreover, he is responsible for compliance in the prevention of money laundering at KT Corporate Services FZ-LLC, a licensed service provider in the United Arab Emirates.

His professional career has been centred in the financial services sector, with specialized experience in auditing and assurance services in Cyprus, Malta, and the United Kingdom. He has worked with financial services companies, banking institutions, and regulated investment firms, accumulating expertise in financial reporting and the implementation of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and International Standards on Auditing (ISA).

Panikos Stavrou is the Police Superintendent since September 2024. He joined the Cyprus Police in 1989 and has since served in key positions. His roles include a 25-year tenure at the Anti-Narcotics Service, working in the European Union and International Police Cooperation Directorate (initially as Deputy Director and later as Director), serving as Director at the Morphou Provincial Police Directorate, commanding the Presidential Guard Unit, and acting as Deputy Director at the Cyprus Intelligence Service.

Throughout his career, he has participated in meetings of EU institutional bodies and international organizations focused on combating narcotics and organized crime. He holds a degree in Business Administration and has completed a postgraduate program at the School of National Security of the Hellenic Police.

Stavrou has undergone training in both Cyprus and abroad on subjects including leadership development, managerial training, and trainer education. He has also received specialized training in operational matters such as surveillance, intelligence gathering, undercover operations, covert actions, mediation, white-collar crimes, financial crimes, handling of informants, and managing serious cases, among others.

He has represented the Police at several DEA and Interpol conferences on illegal trafficking and narcotics control, and has participated in the EU horizontal group on narcotics as well as conferences organized by Europol and Interpol on narcotics issues.
