Illegal casino gaming
The Commission plays a role in ensuring that negative effects are minimised, and benefits achieved. As such our organisational functions and professional performance must be best in class capable of learning and adapting to lessons from our operational experience and from elsewhere. If casino gaming in Cyprus is to have a long term and sustainable future then licensees need not only to adhere to the law and regulations and engage with the Commission in an open and professional manner, but also need to listen to their customers and public at large as to their concerns; develop a fair and honest relationship with their stakeholders; identify the risks of their business activity and act decisively to manage the associated harms.
We believe that in addition to acting against the suppliers of illegal gaming we must mobilise consumers to understand the threats that these people pose (as well as those that enable advertising and payments) to them as consumers but also to the well-being of Cyprus in general. The Commission’s mission to make casino gaming safe and fair cannot be achieved alone. We need strong partnerships with other regulators, consumer bodies and government. We need consumers to have the opportunity to be heard and for the licensees to treat their customers fairly and to make gambling safer.
