The Council of the European Union adopted Council Implementing Regulation (EU) 2024/952 to amend restrictive measures against human rights violators.
The final regulation specifically targets 33 individuals and two entities in Russia linked to the death of Russian opposition activist Alexei Navalny. Specifically, the new listings include the penal colonies where Navalny was held, including IK-6 corrective colony and IK-3 maximum security corrective colony. The EU also sanctioned members of other penitentiaries and associated government officials and members of the judiciary, including judges and city officials.
