The Council of the European Union adopted Council Regulation (EU) 2025/610 which amends the sanctions regulation with respect to the Central African Republic.
The EU amended the regulation following the United Nations Security Council’s (UNSC) adoption of Resolution 2745 (2024), which lifted the arms embargo on the Government of the Central African Republic.
The EU’s latest amendments change the text of the sanctions regulation in accordance with the UNSC decision, by including definitions for financing and financial assistance under Article I, clarifying prohibited activities under Article 2, and deleting certain Articles 3 and 4.
