The Council of the European Union adopted Council Regulation (EU) 2025/608 which amends the sanctions regulation with respect to Haiti.
The amended regulation follows the recent adoption of changes to sanctions on Haiti made by the United Nations Council (UNSC).
The EU adopted the following changes in line with the UNSC’s decision: adding new definitions including brokering services and financing or financial assistance under Article 1 of the sanctions regulation; adding prohibited activities to Article 2; clarifying certain exceptions to prohibited transactions; and adding clarifying language to Article 4.
